New systems

A new air conditioner or furnace, sized to the house you actually have

Air conditioning installation, replacement and furnace installation from an American Standard dealer in Cypress, with a free in-home consultation first.

Chapter 01

Why the replacement keeps disappointing people

The call that ends in a replacement usually starts the same way in Cypress and Spring. The air conditioner runs from morning to night in August and the upstairs still sits at 80, or it starts and stops every few minutes while the electric bill climbs anyway. A unit that is too big for the house short cycles and never pulls the humidity out of the air. One that is too small never gets to rest. Both wear out the parts that cost the most, and a new system fixes none of it if it is simply the old nameplate fitted again.

That is why the first visit here is a conversation and not a sales pitch. Cool-It offers a free in-home consultation with an HVAC specialist, and the point of it is to look at the house you have: how the rooms sit, where the ductwork runs, what the attic does to the air in July. If the existing system turns out to be repairable, that is the answer you should get. Gary Walker wrote about exactly that after another company listed thousands of dollars of replacements on a relatively new system and Vixiene found none of it was needed.

Sizing, selecting and setting the equipment

After the consultation the work is three decisions made in order. First, the right size, because proper sizing of the equipment to the unique needs of your home is the part of an install that no brand name can make up for later. Second, the system itself: Cool-It is an American Standard dealer and also carries air conditioners, heat pumps, gas furnaces, programmable thermostats, humidifiers, ductless split systems, air cleaners, ultra violet lights, ventilators and zoning products, so the choice is made around your preferences and your budget rather than around one box on a truck.

Third, the installation itself, whether that is a new air conditioning installation, a replacement of an existing condenser and coil, or a furnace installation in the attic or a closet. A good install is mostly quiet, careful work that nobody sees afterwards: a level pad, clean line set connections, a condensate drain that runs where water should go, and wiring that is tied up rather than left hanging. The photo above shows two condensers set side by side with that kind of tidiness, and the same care applies inside the house.

Before anyone leaves, the numbers get taken. The measurements on Cool-It's own tune-up sheets, amperage and voltage, the air temperature differential across the coil and refrigerant pressure, are the ones that tell you a new system is running the way it should from its first day.

Chapter 03

The first season with a new system

Equipment is covered by full factory warranties on all equipment and labor, and the way to keep that cover simple is to keep the paperwork from the install somewhere you will find it. Watch the first few weeks for the small things: ice on the copper line outside, water near the air handler, a breaker that trips, a room that is still warm. None of those are normal on a new system, and a call to (832) 316-2665 early is far cheaper than a call in August.

A new system also changes the maintenance conversation. Houston homes need the air conditioner serviced once a year and the furnace once a year, because the furnace is the part that fails on the one cold week you need it. Booking that visit from the start means the coil is clean, the drain is clear and the electrical connections are tight long before the warranty period has a chance to run out unnoticed. If the cost of replacing the whole system is the hurdle, the financing section below explains the GreenSky option.

“Very happy with the professionalism, efficiency and quality of installation done by Cool-it for our new American Standard AC & Heating system.” Randy S, Google review.
