Call (832) 316-2665

One service call

Panel off, gauges on, then a conversation.

This is how a Cool-It call runs, from the condenser in the yard to the air handler in the attic.

Condenser with its service panel off, manifold gauges connected and a recovery tank beside it

Readings

Gauges on before any opinion

The service panel comes off and manifold gauges go on the ports. Refrigerant pressure, amperage and voltage, and the temperature split across the coil get measured and written down before anyone uses the word replace.

The small fix

The cheapest repair that holds

If a capacitor or a contactor will put it right, that is the repair. One customer watched Vixiene try the low-level fix first, move to the next level when it did not hold, and drive to pick up the part.

Until it runs

Finished means cooling, not quitting time

That same call ran into Friday evening, because the system was not fixed yet. In the attic or at the pad, the job ends when the house is cool and the wiring is tidier than we found it.

Second opinions

Three quotes we were asked to check.

A lot of our calls start with somebody else's estimate. We look at the system ourselves and tell you what it actually needs. Sometimes that is a part. Sometimes it is nothing at all.

As one customer put it: “none of the $8000 of work recommended by the other company was needed”.

What a repair call checks

$8,000

Quoted: $8,000 of replacement work recommended by another company on a relatively new system.

Vixiene spent longer on the system than the two other companies the customer called. None of it was needed.

Gary Walker, Google review

$3,200

Quoted: $3,200 quoted by a previous contractor.

Two items actually needed doing, for far less.

Erick, Houston, on our old reviews page

$400+

Quoted: $400+ of repairs quoted to a building's management company.

Billy photographed the unit and showed the managers there was nothing wrong with it.
